Last week I found myself flirting with someone who made me smile. While I got lost in the fun of having this conversation, in between the noise I started to think, ‘But you don’t really know what you’re doing, so why invest in this?’
Or, ‘You sucked at relationships last time, so don’t waste this person’s time.’
It’s cruel what our minds do when we want to try something new.
Sabotaging thoughts are just built in mechanisms that try to keep us safe and they are outdated.
Those thoughts I had aren’t even true…
But they try to stir up lies and paint a picture of the past that can stop the future from manifesting beautifully.
You have to chose not to believe them.
Put perfection by the wayside because getting hung up on doing things right? That will stop you.
And stopping is not getting there.
Besides, perfection isn’t really reached without layers of failure.
So why not use failure as the vehicle to create the perfect journey you need to be on?
There is a RIGHT way, and the right way is to be in momentum, regardless of the outcome.
Trying to do things right the first time is a good way to stop you from even trying.
What do YOU need to do first with in order to start failing for your perfect journey? Are you…
  • avoiding a new step?
  • ignoring something?
  • doubting what you want?
  • afraid it won’t work?
  • lacking the confidence to make a change?
What if I let that thought ‘But you don’t really know what you’re doing, so why invest in this.’ that came up when flirting with that person stop me in my business ten years ago?
Because that’s not the only place these fears show up.
Or when I hired my first coach?
When I wanted to flip a house?
Also, when I wanted to start a coaching practice?
I would have stayed in a false safety of the area in life I was outgrowing and I surely would have been unfulfilled.
Did I fail? Relentlessly.
We’re always growing, which means we’re always OUT growing something, and that’s ok. You can’t know what the next layer looks like until you make it.
The only way forward is to actually flirt with failure.
The learning will be the way.
Let those new beginnings lead to heartbreak and fall in love with where you want to go.
Know that the journey is the actual place you need to be, not the end game.
